The villa is nicely positioned with west facing views across the bay giving lovely views of the sunset, especially from the roof terrace. Water Taxi into the town centre was 25TL pp & a very relaxing way to start the evening.

The villa really is a home from home with lots of nice touches that you often don’t get – a local mobile phone to use, beach towels, books, games, shopping bags, spare socket adapters, etc.

Karyn & Irfan look after you well & are more than happy to help out in any way they can.

There are a number of beach clubs within a few minutes walk, each slightly different in their atmosphere. They all offer access to the lovely clear, deep water & water sports such as canoeing, paddle boards, boat hire, jet skis, etc.

We had a brilliant stay at the villa. It really is so well equipped and comfortable. The local beach is beautiful and it’s great at the beach club. We didn’t need a car as the water taxis ran regularly across the bay to Kalkan. Highly recommended and would love to spend another holiday there.

This lovely villa in the Kisla area of Kalkan is a fabulous place to stay. Pippa was really helpful with all of our queries during booking and we were so well looked after by Karyn and Irfan once there. The villa is well equipped and has loads of indoor and outside space- perfect for 2 families. The pool is a good size and Irfan comes every day to clean and check it- his cheerful smile and friendly manner were a welcome sight each morning and not just because of the fresh bread he brought us. We would highly recommend taking up Karyn’s offer of organising food shopping – it is stress free and getting warm rotisserie chicken delivered was a welcome treat. The villa has everything you need including a mobile phone which was so handy to call Ayan the taxi driver who took us many times across to Kalkan centre but also Kalamar ( you really don’t need a car to stay here and cost effective airport transfers were arranged by Pippa and Karyn). The watersports provided by Aristos near Indigo beach club are highly recommended ( the food at Indigo is really good) as is the scuba diving at Kalamar ( this beach club is great for snorkeling). The local beach club is just a few minutes walk and free to use – their food prices are more expensive than the pay to enter beach clubs but can usually grant you a free water taxi across to Kalkan habour in the evening. There are loads of great adventures to be had including boat trips ( we loved our day with Ramazan on his boat Eylul) and quad biking- just as examples. There is an amazing choice of restaurants serving excellent food and the market on Thursday is well worth a visit. We loved our 2 weeks here and would not hesitate to recommend it.

The villa is very clean, modern and extremely well equipped and a home from home. A great amount of space inside and out so that everyone was able to chill. The location in Kisla is quiet but with easy access to the beach and Kalkan town by car or water taxi. Support from the owner and her representative was excellent and made the stay so easy.

Sept 2015

This is a lovely villa across the bay from Kalkan harbour. The facilities are excellent and Karyn and the team could not be more helpful. The villa is close to the sea front and there are very good local restaurants if you do not want to go to the main part of Kalkan. We had a lovely relaxing holiday and would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a villa holiday in the area.

David did everything to make it as easy as possible. The villa is great for a family. Karyn who manages the villa is fabulous…nothing is too much. I would recommend without hesitation!

July 2015

This was our first visit to Turkey and we have been bowled over by the warmth of Kalkan, not only the wonderful sunshine, but by the delightful people we have met.
For us, this has been a holiday to really relax and Villa Kaplumbaga has made that objective extremely easy! The Villa was scrupulously clean and inviting, we have really enjoyed relaxing by the pool and absorbing the amazing views in all directions! While there are extensive facilities for self-catering at the Villa, and lots of different fresh foods to be sourced in Kalkan, there is so much choice for eating out that we never found the need or wish to cook for ourselves!
It is a real luxury to have someone like Karyn so easily accessible to ask any questions about the villa or the area. We have been so grateful every morning to see a gleaming pool, so very well looked after by Irfan and a loaf of delicious bread waiting on the table for our inevitably late start!
On our first night we went over in the water taxi, which in itself is a lovely experience, to the main town for dinner. We ate in Belgin’s Kitchen which immediately drew our eye, due to the low tables and cushions scattered on the floor. We ate upstairs on the balcony and enjoyed the bohemian atmosphere. It provides a different experience and was fun to get us in the mood for relaxing.
The second day was spent around the villa with a trip to Bob’s for lunch ingredients. He was very friendly and helpful, such a useful local shop. We ate dinner at the local Fidanka restaurant, which also had interesting furniture and artefacts to admire.
The following day was a chance to visit some of the shops in Kalkan and try to sniff out some older kelims and jewellery, something with a bit of a tale to tell, we were not disappointed….
We followed shopping with gorgeous cocktails and wonderful dinner at Iso’s, looked after admirably by the charming waiter! The following evening we ate at the Moonlight Roof Terrace which, true to its statement, it probably does have one of the best views in Kalkan.
We enjoyed a fabulous day on the Eclipse with its’ Captain, Mehmet and his crewman. The food was wonderful and it was an opportunity to spot a few turtles and enjoy swimming in the very inviting sea.
This has been a wonderful holiday in a land of exotica with a very comfortable and secure Villa as a base – thank you Pippa and David.

July 2015:

This was our third visit to Kalkan and this is by a distance the best accommodation we have stayed in – the rooms are all a good size, clean and tastefully furnished, and the equipment is all in good shape and relatively new. The pool is not the largest but with the sea just a couple of hundred metres away that hardly matters. The team who look after the property and arrange transfers are the best we have experienced.
This was our first time on the Kisla side of the bay – which means benefitting from the glorious late afternoon / early evening sun, when much of Kalkan is in shade. If you’re looking for somewhere quiet, in a good position, affordable and well managed – you need go no further.

August 2014:

The Villa: A true ‘ home from home’ feel about this place. Very spacious, modern, clean, quality finishings and appliances. Creature comforts such as, Wi Fi, Bose Docking Station, Sky TV, Air Conditioning Units that actually work very well ! Pool terrace with excellent views of the bay, and a couple of spots to grab some shade as and when required. Great location in terms of walking to local store, beach club, and a couple of quiet restaurants. Location: Kisla itself was perfect for us. Nice and quiet and away from the bustling (but not tacky) nightlife of Kalkan. The boat taxi was good fun for the kids in the evening. As much as we liked Kalkan old town, I don’t think we would choose to stay over that side. The standard of Restaurants in Kalkan was 95% excellent to be fair, a couple of excellent ones, majority are good, just one or two that disappointed, but by no means awful. Transfer time acceptable, as I think all the ‘nicer’ resorts of Turkey are usually a fair trek from the airports. Personally, in our experience of several visits to the country, Kalkan is by far the best one yet ! Karyn & The Team: We have to hand it to them ! You have a good team looking after your clients out there David . Karyn couldn’t do enough for us ! She helped us with groceries/water deliveries, tips on trips/days out, car hire, internet issues, local information….

August 2014:

What a fabulous introduction to Turkey! We arrived at close to midnight and the view of Kalkan with all the lights was magical. The villa certainly had the wow factor as soon as we walked in. It is very spacious and so well kitted out but also very homely too. We loved the decor and I particularly loved the winding staircase. All the bedrooms were very comfortable with good storage space and it was so lovely to have a balcony off each room and of course a lovely en suite too. The view from the villa is so beautiful across the bay, the area is very quiet but there is a little shop and the beach club just a few minutes walk away. We made friends with a local taxi driver, Rami, who took the seven if us backwards and forwards to town. Karyn was always quick to respond if we had any questions or requests and the villa was very well maintained including the pool. The pool man delivered the wonderful local fresh bread each morning. It was very hot so having the air conditioning was fantastic. Our favourite restaurant was Salt & Pepper – excellent food at a fair price, great service, just lovely:) We didn’t really do much sight seeing as it was so hot but fully intend on returning in 2015 to put that right! The Turkish people are incredibly friendly, nothing is too much trouble. The taxi boat across the bay was brilliant and very amusing late at night if the skipper had had a drink. A very enjoyable and relaxing holiday which was exactly what we all needed. Perfect, thank you for sharing your wonderful second home with us.

August 2014:

Villa Kaplumbaga was immaculately presented and had everything in place to ensure an immensely relaxing holiday! The pool is cleaned daily and the delivery of freshly baked bread in the morning was a welcome treat! All of the rooms are spacious and well equipped and decorated to a high standard. The views, particularly from the balcony at sunset, overlooking the bay and town, were truly breathtaking. The villa is in the perfect location; quiet enough to escape and have privacy yet near enough to the town for shopping and restaurants and other amenities. We have already recommended villa Kaplumbaga to our friends and family and will be booking up to stay next summer again. We couldn’t have found a better place to stay!

JULY 2014:

It was our first visit to Kalkan and what a delightful and stunningly beautiful place it is. Although there are lots of Brits there it has not fallen into the trap of many other Med resorts and has retained much of its own character. The locals are charming and friendly and not pushy and the food and choice of restaurants is fabulous; everywhere is so clean.

This was a family holiday with my 89 year old mum, my brother, sister in law and 13 year old nephew and we all had a fantastic time. We all loved Villa Kaplumbaga. It was stunning, in a great location with superb views but still quiet. Internally there was all we could wish for and more – it was more of a home than a rented property and we felt totally spoilt and at ease. There are so many places to sit outside – 3 balconies as well as all around the pool and at the side of the villa and always shade somewhere. The quality of the furnishings, fixtures and fittings is very high and having lovely ensuite facilities and air conditioning made a big difference.

We loved our daily delivery of fresh bread for breakfast and the excellent assistance from Karyn, the agent in Kalkan for the property. We used Jemal to taxi us around (my mother found the steep roads a bit of a challenge) and hired a car to visit Kas, Patara and Islambar, all definitely worth a visit. We have fabulous memories and loved the holiday. Thank you

JUNE 2014:
If you are looking for perfection – look no further. Villa Kaplumbaga exceeded our expectations and provided a wonderful base for a week in the sun. Described as a luxury villa, it more than fits the bill offering four spacious and well fitted en-suite bedrooms, a modern kitchen with all the gadgets you could wish for and a comfortable living area.
The villa was recently upgraded and was exceptionally well cared for. Together with the extensive outside space, including the beautiful pool, sunbeds and shaded areas, it meant that our every need was catered for. I almost forgot to mention the roof terrace, the perfect place to linger over our late afternoon/early evening drinks as we soaked up the amazing views across the bay.
The owners David and Pippa Leggate have added high quality ‘personal touches’ and extras to the villa that ensures it really is a home from home. For example, the welcome pack is comprehensive and provides all the basics that lasted us the week. As if by magic, fresh bread was delivered each day and all of this is complimentary. Booking the villa was simple. My enquiry received an immediate response from the owners and, in no time, we received the confirmation. It is perhaps worth pointing out that when compared to so many villas around the Med the price of the rental (during a peak period) represented excellent value for money.
As well as the responsive owners who are UK based, the local agent, Karyn, couldn’t have been more helpful. I presume it was Karyn who was responsible for the welcome pack and the daily bread delivery as well as organising airport transfers and anything else we needed. She was attentive but not intrusive and gave us a lift into Kalkan on the first day so that we could get our bearings.
As newcomers to Kalkan, we expected it to be good because so many friends have ‘raved’ about it for years. We were not disappointed. A water taxi whisked us across the bay each day to the harbour (what a way to travel) and the villa is only three minutes from the beach club as described on-line. Our only problem was deciding which of the restaurants to choose as so many had been recommended. Our particular favourites were The Fish Terrace, Safro and Sade but there are many more. Try to visit Kas if you get a chance, its only 30 minutes away ( 6 Lira on the Dolmus) but don’t feel guilty if you just want to enjoy the luxury living and lazing that the villa offers. I can recommend the villa unreservedly. Can’t wait to return.

MAY 2014:
We cannot adequately express how gorgeous the view from our bedroom window was when we pulled back the curtains on our first morning in this very welcoming villa.

The villa is extremely well appointed. During our visit we visited restaurants in Kalkan, but on warmer evenings the lovely poolside terrace encouraged us to BBQ.

The kitchen, fitted with high quality units and equipment was a very efficient space to work in. The location of this villa is superb. Even though there are other villas around the house one does not feel overlooked and the view from every window and balcony and from the top floor are an every changing tableau – go and see it for yourselves.

Kasla is within easy reach of Kalkan’ which has an attractive harbour bustling with activity so worth a visit especially for a sun downer in one of the many quay side venues. If you have the time visit the Turkish Baths and or the Barbers. The Turks have been doing this for years, perhaps this is why there is such a relaxed atmosphere around Kalkan. A visit to the weekly Kalkan market is also to be experienced. One can barter and purchase innumerable different spices, the tastiest apricots, fresh vegetables and tomatoes by the kilo load! Tables cloths, towels, footwear, it is a hagglers paradise. We would like to mention that we were never hassled to purchase and the people we met were very welcoming and willing to chat and pass the time of day.

We ate out in the Moussaka, Trio, Kaya (lovely Magician; oh so charming)and the Aubergine. Aubergine we visited twice! Try the Turkish dishes they are so delicious. Don’t avoid the Turkish wines, we enjoyed sampling the reds, the whites the rose and the Efes beer. Daily trips from the villa to Kas, Fetteiya, Saklikant Gorge and others were enjoyed immensely, but as we only have a few “characters” left before our space runs out for this review, we suggest that you read up about Kasla, Kalcan and the surrounding areas so that you can decide where you want to visit during you stay.

The scenery, flora, fauna, mountains, sense of history and the people will not disappoint. Watch out for the Kaplumbaga crossing the road! The owners have gone to a great deal of trouble to ensure that their clients enjoy a truly memorable holiday – we did.

Thank you Pippa and David.
